The Question Every Graduate Asks

It's Good for Pain.
But What About Internal Medicine?

Module 1 gave you the five systems, imaging and mirroring. You've used them on shoulders, backs and knees. Then the same patient mentions irregular cycles, poor sleep or a chest that tightens every winter — and the musculoskeletal map doesn't tell you where to go. Dr Tan didn't stop at pain. He built point prescriptions for functional and internal conditions, and diagnosed them through the same meridian logic you already know. Module 2 is where that part of his teaching is passed on.

01

Patients Don't Arrive With One Complaint

The person you're treating for back pain also has hormonal, digestive or respiratory concerns. Module 2 gives you a way to approach the whole presentation, not just the part that hurts.

02

Internal Conditions Need a Different Map

Yangming, Shaoyang and Taiyang patterns, and how a Zang Fu diagnosis translates into a meridian diagnosis — so the points you choose follow the pattern, not a formula list.

03

Needles and Herbs, Working Together

Dr Tan combined Acupuncture with herbal treatment. Module 2 shows how the two fit, from the same diagnosis.

Module 1 gave you the map. Module 2 takes you into the territory.

Point Prescriptions

Dr Tan's Prescriptions for
Functional and Internal Conditions

Module 2 builds directly on the five systems. You review imaging and mirroring, then apply the same logic to functional disorders, the six-channel disease patterns, gynaecological and male conditions, and the Magical Points Dr Tan used again and again in his own clinic. Day 3 goes to the foundation underneath it all — the I Ching and the Ba Gua — and Meridian Conversion Therapy, which turns a Zang Fu diagnosis into a meridian treatment.

☯️

Six-Channel Patterns

Yangming, Shaoyang and Taiyang disease patterns, and how each one shapes your point prescription.

✨

Dr Tan's Magical Points

The 4 Magical Meridians for the "Narrow Front", the 4 for kidney conditions and low back pain, and the 8 for hormonal conditions.

🔁

Meridian Conversion Therapy

Equating Zang Fu diagnosis to meridian diagnosis, so herbal and Acupuncture thinking meet in one plan.

Fewest needles, clearest reasoning — the same principle as Module 1, applied beyond pain, to functional and internal conditions.

Your Instructor

Meet Dr Eileen Han

Dr Eileen Han
PhD · 20-year direct disciple of Dr Richard Tan, 15 years running his clinic · Treats 50–70 patients a day using Balance Method only

In 1999 Dr Eileen Han became one of Dr Richard Tan's chosen disciples. For the next 20 years she learned the Balance Method through traditional master–disciple transmission, at his side. For 15 of those years she helped run his clinic, saw hundreds of his patients each week, and had every needle and every clinical decision corrected by him. After he passed, she went on treating his patients.

Today she treats 50–70 patients a day using nothing but the Balance Method — internal and functional conditions as well as pain. What she teaches in Module 2 is what she does every day: Dr Tan's prescriptions, as he used them.

The Lineage

Where the Prescriptions Come From

Module 2 is where the classical foundation of Dr Tan's method becomes visible — the I Ching, the Ba Gua and the Five Shu points that sit underneath every system you learned in Module 1.

Dr Richard Tan and Dr Eileen Han
Dr Richard Tan's Clinical Method

Dr Richard Tan — Architect of the Balance Method

Born into a family of TCM doctors in 1950s Taiwan, Dr Richard Tan systematised the classical relationships between the meridians into what he called the Balance Method. Module 1 teaches the systems built on those relationships. Module 2 teaches what he built on top of them: point prescriptions for functional and internal conditions, and the I Ching theory that explains why they work.

Dr Tan passed his complete method to a small number of direct disciples. Dr Eileen Han spent twenty years at his side, and teaches Module 2 in the order he taught it to her.

What You'll Learn

What Changes After Module 2

Three days that take the systems you already use beyond pain.

In Your Clinic

You approach functional and internal presentations — hormonal, gynaecological, respiratory, male conditions — with a structure, not a formula list. You can read a Zang Fu diagnosis as a meridian diagnosis, and combine needles and herbs from one plan.

For Your Practice

The patients you see for pain can bring the rest of their health to you. Conditions you used to refer out become conditions you can assess and plan.

For Your Understanding

The I Ching and Ba Gua stop being background theory. You see why Dr Tan's systems work, which makes every Module 1 treatment clearer too.

Why They Came Back for Module 2

My clinical skills and results have drastically changed and improved since I met and learned directly from Dr Richard Teh-Fu Tan. I decided to continue learning from Eileen because she is one of the best Dr Tan students.
Dr Ben O'BrienAcupuncturist (WA, Australia)
Dr Eileen Han is a very knowledgeable and passionate teacher. I particularly enjoyed her anecdotes from her working years with Dr Richard Tan and from her clinical practice.
Dr Lucy CampbellAcupuncturist (VIC, Australia)
Giving yourself that mapping and strategy to deal whether it's a meridian problem or internal issue or musculoskeletal just gives you that map and that strategy and guideline to work through. And if one way doesn't work, then you can have other ways to approach the issue.
Teresa HuynhAcupuncturist (Brisbane, Australia)
Dr Eileen Han is doing a wonderful job of honouring Dr Richard Tan's legacy by teaching the Balance Method in an easy to learn and practical way.
