About This Seminar

The Neuro-Meridian Acupuncture Certification Program is a post-graduate program covering the treatment of pain and neurological dysfunction through a neuroanatomical understanding of the body, while adhering to Classical Chinese Medicine theories.

The program comprises 78 contact hours of lecture, practical training, demonstration and clinical hands-on skills delivered across three modules, each held over four consecutive days. Module 1 focuses on the upper extremity, neck and head.

What This Seminar Covered

Neurovascular as Jing-Mai

Interpret the neurovascular system as the Jing-Mai system to understand the anatomical basis of point functions.

Electro-modulation

Gain proficiency in electro-modulating various branches of the sensory, motor and autonomic nervous system.

Neuro-meridian plucking

Perfect neuro-meridian plucking skills, obtaining the correct De Qi sensation unique to each point through neuro-anatomy and channel theory.

Upper extremity protocols

Treatment protocols for trigger finger, De Quervain tenosynovitis, lateral epicondylitis, tricep tendinosis, bicipital tendinitis and rotator cuff syndrome.

Neck & head protocols

Treatment protocols for tension, migraine, cluster and occipital neuropathic headache, allergic rhinitis, TMJ dysfunction, trigeminal neuralgia, facial (Bell's) palsy and cervicalgia.

Neurological mechanism

Understand the neurological mechanism of Acupuncture and how it underpins point selection.

Day 1

Introduction & Upper Extremity Part 1-2

Introduction to Integrative Acupuncture; Neuro-stimulation & De Qi for Upper Extremity Part 1-2; Neurological Mechanism of Acupuncture.

Day 2

Upper Extremity Part 3-5 & Protocols

Neuro-stimulation & De Qi for Upper Extremity Part 3-5; upper extremity treatment protocol demonstrations; palpate A-shi points and insert needles under teacher supervision.

Day 3

Integration & Neck/Head Part 1-4

SMART Guideline: East & West Integration; Neuro-stimulation & De Qi for Neck & Head Part 1-4.

Day 4

Neck/Head Part 5 & Protocols

Neuro-stimulation & De Qi for Neck & Head Part 5; neck and head treatment protocol demonstrations.

Dr Poney Chiang

Dr Poney Chiang holds a PhD in biomedical research from the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto, and a Master's in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York. He founded the Integrative Acupuncture Certificate Program at York University's Faculty of Health in Toronto and is a professor at the American Neuro-Acupuncture Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He specialises in the peripheral neuroanatomy of acupoints and neuro-modulation needle techniques.
