Neuro-Meridian Acupuncture Intensive: Module 3
Module 3 of the Neuro-Meridian Acupuncture Intensive with Dr Poney Chiang, held in Bali, covering PNS entrapment and CNS dysfunction including MRI-verified scalp Acupuncture and stroke neuro-rehabilitation.
About This Seminar
The Neuro-Meridian Acupuncture Intensive series is post-graduate advanced training, modelled after Dr Chiang's own Professional Practice Certificate program offered at York University in Toronto, Canada.
Module 3 dives into central neurological conditions and PNS entrapment, covering MRI-verified scalp Acupuncture, Brunnstrom Staging for stroke rehabilitation and TCM views on neurological disorders, while adhering to Classical Chinese Medicine theory.
What This Seminar Covered
Scalp acupoints
Understand why specific scalp acupoints address particular cortical brain areas.
CNS conditions
Assessment and treatment approaches for MS, stroke, Parkinson's and motor neuron disease.
Entrapment protocols
Treatment protocols for nerve entrapment syndromes such as piriformis, scalene and carpal tunnel.
Root-cause skillset
Target the root causes of CNS dysfunction with a focused skillset.
Auricular Acupuncture
Auricular Acupuncture as an additional tool for neurological conditions.
Needling techniques
Specific needling techniques for nerve condition recovery.
Course Structure
Upper Extremity Entrapments
Introduction and overview of 16 peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes; differential diagnosis and protocols for upper extremity entrapments (scalene, radial tunnel, posterior interosseous, Wartenberg, pronator teres, anterior interosseous, carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, Guyon's canal).
Lower Extremity Entrapments
Differential diagnosis and protocols for lower extremity entrapments (psoas, meralgia paresthetica, piriformis, adductor tunnel, peroneal tunnel, anterior and medial tarsal tunnel).
Central Conditions & Scalp Acupuncture
Acupuncture research for central neurological conditions; MRI-verified scalp Acupuncture and treatment strategy; Brunnstrom Staging for stroke neuro-rehab; TCM perspective on neurological disorders (Wind, Wei Syndrome, Du-Mai pathology).
Spastic Paralysis & Motor Rehab
Yin-Yang balancing Acupoint-to-Acupoint Penetrative Needling (AAPN) for spastic paralysis; electrically evoked sensory volley for motor rehab; proprioceptive articular sensory nerve needle technique; auricular Acupuncture; assessment and treatment of MS, Parkinson's and motor neuron disease.

Dr Poney Chiang
Dr Poney Chiang holds a PhD in biomedical research from the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto, and a Master's in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York. He is an adjunct professor and founder of the Integrative Acupuncture Certificate Program at York University in Toronto, and a professor at the American Neuro-Acupuncture Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His current research is an MRI-based study of scalp acupoint neuro-anatomy and its relationship to cortical functional regions.
What Attendees Said
“It is right down my alley. Neuro-Meridian work is what I do back in my clinic, so I came here looking for an opportunity to learn more and so far I have been very impressed. Dr Poney Chiang is very understandable and very approachable. I love his notes, they are very good.”
Paul McLeod, Acupuncturist, VIC, Australia
“I think it is a fabulous course. This should be done when you are a student and trying to coordinate anatomy and physiology with the acupuncture points.”
Irene Newn, Acupuncturist, NSW, Australia
